Welcome to my blog! It feels awkward actually say that out loud. I never saw myself as a blogger. I always thought of bloggers as people with trendy styles and exciting lives – none of which I claim to poses. Nevertheless, here I am. If you haven’t done so yet, check out my “About” tab to see what led me to start Krys Marie.
Those who follow me on social media may know that I started a new job in early March. I am always grateful for the opportunity to grow and expand my knowledge personally and professionally. Even more so, I’m thankful for friends who relish in my accomplishments as if they were their own. When I told my best friend about my new job, her first response was, “I’m so happy for you.” Quickly followed by “We have to celebrate with brunch!” While I know she was genuinely excited for me; I can’t help but think she was also looking for an excuse to enjoy bottomless mimosas. However, I’m not mad at her – brunch is the best meal of the day!
Brimstone:
We decided to have brunch at Brimstone Woodfire Grill in The Shops of Pembroke Gardens Mall at 14575 SW 5th St, Pembroke Pines, FL 33027. All of us who attended live within a 10-minute drive of the restaurant, so it was convenient—especially when making your way home after having mimosas.
Ambiance: 3 out of 5.
As I stated earlier, Brimstone is located at The Shoppes of Pembroke Gardens, so there is no natural scenery except for I-75. However, Pembroke Gardens is an outside mall, which allows you the opportunity to burn a few calories by browsing around after your meal. If you’re looking for a restaurant with a scenic view, Brimstone wouldn’t be my first choice. However, on Friday and Saturday nights, there is a live band. Also, on Saturdays during brunch, they have a live DJ playing music, which helps create a lively atmosphere.
Menu: 4.5 out of 5 ($$$ average dinner entree ranges from $25-$39)
I’m a frequent visitor to Brimstone. However, I have only tried a few items on their menu. A while back, I established my favorite meal- the mango shrimp salad, and since then, there has been no turning back. Every time I eat, I order this meal, whether it’s brunch, lunch, or dinner. However, on this particular day, I decided to try something new. I decided to go with the shrimp and grits. I love shrimp, but I have never tried grits before, so I was a bit hesitant. However, as soon as I saw the waiter coming with my food, I was glad I decided to try something different. From the smell to the plating, the whole entree was AMAZING… A picture is worth a thousand words, so see for yourself:
Attire:
The thing I love about brunch is that you can never over or underdress. As I stated earlier, the restaurant is located at a mall, which means the attire is very flexible. Jeans and a nice t-shirt are acceptable, but if you’re like me and prefer to wear a nice dress with heels, nobody would look at you crazy. I love a good brunch. I always see it as an excuse to dress up or buy a new outfit. In my humble opinion, you can’t do brunch in sandals and flats; heels are a must. Shameless plug: one of my closest friends, Tiffany Segree, started her own company Shop Tiffany Renee. The dress I wore that day was purchased through her online boutique. I’m not just saying this to be supportive, but her clothes are BOMB. If you’re looking for something fashionable, yet affordable then definitely click on the link or visit www.shoptiffanyrenee.com
Overall Rating: 4.3
Google gives Brimstone 4.1 stars out of 5. However, I would give them a 4.3 rating (I know, not much of a big difference, lol). My reason being is that they have live entertainment on the weekends, which helps to create a lively atmosphere.
Have you ever been to Brimstone before? If so, let me know about your experience, and if I missed anything, what would you add to this review? If you happen to try the restaurant after reading this post, come back and let me know about your experience!
