STK Miami: Date Night

Last year for my 23rd birthday, I was researching a good spot to host my birthday dinner. After scrolling through a few options; I came across STK. The thing I love about Miami is that it’s home to a lot of exclusive restaurants. When I go online I tend to notice that the best restaurants always have branches in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Any who, I decided to give the restaurant a try. My birthday dinner was a girls only night. From the moment when we stepped into the restaurant I knew it was going to be a great time. The ambiance was classy, the people were all dressed to perfection, and to top it all off there was a DJ playing throwback tunes from the 90’s. Everyone who went had such an amazing time, that I knew I had to do it again.

On a typical Saturday night, I find it hard to stay indoors. Living in a city as vibrant as Miami, there’s always somewhere to go and somewhere new to explore. I’m sure by now my husband already knows that once it hits 9 o’clock , I’m going to ask him if he wants to go out. Luckily, on this particular night he said yes and as luck would have it, it was my turn to choose the place. Without giving it much thought; I already knew where we had to go….STK.

STK Miami: 2305 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Ambiance: 4.8 out of 5

STK is located on Collins Ave, a few blocks away from all the South Beach action, and as I said before the ambiance of this place was AMAZING. From the front door to the restrooms, everything was beautiful. I have gone on a Friday and Saturday night, both of which had a DJ. The music selection was always on point, from tunes like the Fugees “Killing Me Softly” to recent tunes like “Nice for What” it’s hard not to sing along. Most upscale restaurants that I’ve been to, you could hear a pin drop; but at STK  it’s always appropriate to sing at the table. If you’re looking for a romanic first date then this probably isn’t the spot.  The music is loud and doesn’t make for good conversation. I haven’t been during the week, so it might not be that way Monday- Thursday; so I would still advise that you give it a try. However, if one weekend you’re looking for a nice spot to have good food without the stuffy atmosphere, then this is definitely the place. Don’t believe me, see for yourself:

Menu: 3.5 out of 5 ($$$$ Dinner Entrees are A La Carte and range from $35-$90)

STK is a steakhouse; which essentially means “come prepared to spend some bread”. The entrees are all A La Carte, but the side dishes are large enough to split between 2 people. Honestly, the food is what you would expect from any average steakhouse. There’s nothing particularly great about the food.  Don’t get me wrong, the food is good. However, there’s nothing special that would make you say ” I need to come back and have this again.” Put it this way: The food is good enough to make you stay, but the ambiance makes you want to come back for more.

Attire:

STK has a very upscale vibe, but a laid back feel. This kind of makes it difficult to decide exactly what attire is appropriate from what isn’t. The first time I went to STK it was for my birthday, so of course I had to dress up (right). However, the second time I went I went for a more cute, yet comfy vibe (left). I definitely would not recommend that anyone go in with flats or sandals…after all this is Miami.

Overall Rating: 4.7 out of 5

Out of the two times I’ve been to STK, I have never left disappointed. The restaurant itself is a highlight, but the fact that it’s located on South Beach makes it even better. If you don’t want the party to end, it doesn’t have to. Oh, and they have a photobooth! ☺️ I recommend this spot for the perfect date night, or dinner party.
